Do, Do, Do, Do, Do -- Always Coca Cola

In 1995, MoogaBoo and I used to love this song "Always Coca Cola" by Un Disco In Lattina. When you're 21 and gay and spending a lot of time at the dance club, even a Eurotrash version of a corporate jingle can make everything in the world seem right.

After a couple years had gone by, one of us mentioned the song in conversation, and it hit us that we should finally try to track it down. Of course, this was the days before peer-to-peer file sharing networks on the internet, etc., and finding a song that was only ever available in CD format in the U.S. on one of the rare Eurotracks compilations proved to be extremely challenging. I think we finally gave up after a whole hour-long phone conversation where we each searched around for it.

Fast-forward to 2002, when I was hellbent on finding the damn song on CD. I posted a desperate plea on some DJ message board online, and some guy in California finally came to my rescue. He had the Eurotracks 5 compilation, and sold it to me for $40.

Anyway, today I got an email from someone in the Czech Republic who stumbled on my post from 4 years ago on the DJ message board. He said he'd also been searching for the song, and so I was happy to share it with him.

And since there's probably no one in the world who owns the rights to this song anymore, as it's not available ANYWHERE now, I'm sharing it with you. Download it, close your eyes, and pretend you're a 21-year-old living in very different times.

This is always a joy to hear. Hooray for the Czech Republic for bringing it up again. This should be their new national anthem!

    Those Czech boys...

Gosh, when I was 21 I had already passed my "musical peak". For me that was 1989-1991 (I was only 16+ then) when S/A/W were most successful.

I can relate to your sentiment, though. It's always nice when you finally can get hold of an elusive track and when you get unexpected feedback to your website/posts.

I think I peaked on a dancefloor during last call with a straw up my nose in '95 while Fun Factory chirped in the background.

Or was my first holy communion I just described? Memory's getting fuzzy.
